Projects

• Food and Clothing Drive for school
• Takoma Park Emergency Fund – raise money to help families that are in need (food cards, electricity)
• Thanks-For-Giving Campaign – Created 20 food baskets for local families – we added $25 gift cards to each basket
• Holiday Gram Fund-raiser -  raised money to purchase gifts about $300 worth for a local family
• Haiti Relief – still in the process – hope to raise $1000.00
• Pennies for Patients – raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society – our goal is $1500 we raised $1200 last year
• Room Cleaning and School Beautification
• Ski for Special Olympics – our goal is raise $10,000 for the Special Olympics Foundation
• Monthly Soup Kitchen – Community Café in Hyattsville – we either work the soup kitchen or bring food for the soup kitchen
• Reading Reconnects Families – collected almost 500 books for inmates at state prison facilities
• We run the school recycling program
• Blue Ribbon – You Make A Difference Campaign – similar to a program started in New York City

Projects we are just beginning to work on:

• Race for the Cure
• Race for Hope
• C&O clean-up

Future projects – vision:

• We are just beginning the grant writing process.
• We would like to provide small grants of money to staff who have innovative programs that benefit students and/or families We would like to sponsor a leadership conference for students in middle school.  They would attend the local conference.  We would bring in a variety of speakers and trainers.
• We would like to spearhead the development of similar programs in other county middle schools We would like to be able to bring in guests to our program to speak with our club members.
